Hengeventures celebrated their 18th annual “Hengeride” where a group of 20 dirt bikers explored routes along Baja’s rugged coastline.  The ride starts and ends in Ensenada and runs along the Baja coast for 3 days. Many people come to Baja looking to ride their motorcycle on the sandy beaches and this is exactly what the group did. The Hengeventures team was prepped and ready with legendary baja guides Justin Strong and Baja champion Steve Hengeveld leading the way. Of course you can’t ride Baja without a medic on hand, so their trusty medic John Clark was along to support the group. To top it off they had Taco Moto Mike to document the adventure and help tune or repair bikes along the way and Korn Dawg from The Desert Dirt Biker podcast rode along on his first Baja Beach adventure, eventually recording a podcast with the guests and staff next to the bonfire.

After talking to Bill for a couple years, he finally opened his Baja surf camp to their group. This lodge is unique, because it sits right on the beach at “Shipwrecks” an appropriately named surf spot with a wrecked ship in the shallow water of the point. Bill’s lodge had plenty of room, hammock’s to relax on, a tiki bar and firepit for evening stories.  There’s even a fun peeling wave out front that members of the ride were able to surf after a long day sweating on the trail. They had hearty meals prepared in the kitchen for breakfast and dinner to fuel the crew for each day.IMG_20200702_072435_172.jpg

From local seafood to tacos overflowing with fresh meat and guacamole, the crew ate well and never went hungry. Their saturday day loop from the lodge was focused on visiting an oyster bar on the ocean in San Quintin where they rode 20+ miles of sandy beach to get there. Needless to say the guys were glowing that night from the beach therapy and had the option for a 4 hands massage from our local massage team.

On the final day, Sunday, the group reluctantly headed north back along the Baja coast riding some SCORE Baja race course and a good mix of coastal singletrack. After they returned to Ensenada it was clear that this would go down as a magical Baja experience. The group was growing and all the riders had a great time. These Hengeventures rides are becoming more and more magical each season, between the guests and the crew, the trips run flawlessly and smooth. Big thanks go out to Bill at Baja Surf Adventures for opening his private lodge to our group, we are glad to now offer this adventure to groups who reach out looking for a Baja Dirt Bike adventure.
